Career development supervisor to retire

CANFIELD -- It's not easy replacing someone regarded as an educational pioneer, but the Mahoning County Career & amp; Technical Center is going to try.
The center's board of education agreed this week to seek a successor for Dr. Marie Pavlicko, who has served the center as career development supervisor for 28 years.
Pavlicko has submitted her resignation and plans to retire at the end of this school year. She's been in the education field for 42 years, and was honored last year as an Ohio Pioneer in Education, said Superintendent Roan Craig.
Craig had only praise for Pavlicko's performance, calling her an excellent administrator with whom it was a joy to work.
The school board voted to create a 260-day career development supervisor's post. The job involves serving as liaison between the center and its 13 home schools, creating career development programs and marketing career center programs.
The new position has been posted and also will be advertised, Craig said, adding that she hopes to have a new supervisor in place by July 1.
