MILWAUKEE -- Steve Novak scored 19 points and set Marquette's season record for 3-pointers, leading the Golden Eagles to a 57-51 victory over No. 17 Georgetown Thursday night.
The 6-foot-11 Novak put on another shooting show at home -- going 5-of-8 from beyond the arc -- while Dominic James scored 16 points and Jerel McNeal added 10 for Marquette (17-8, 7-5 Big East).
Roy Hibbert, who had 17 points, made a layup with 6:03 to go to cap a 7-0 run that brought Georgetown (17-6, 8-4) within 44-42. Ashanti Cook's 3-pointer gave the Hoyas their first lead in the second half, 49-48.
But James found Joe Chapman for a 3-pointer to give Marquette a 51-49 lead with 2:30 remaining.
Neither team scored again until James hit a runner with 48 seconds left that made it 53-49. Marquette sealed the game with 20 seconds left when Novak, a career 93 percent free throw shooter, made two.
No. 13 Boston College 65, Miami 54
BOSTON -- Jared Dudley scored 16 points and Boston College relied on 3-point shooting to win for the 10th win in 11 games. The Eagles (21-5, 8-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) broke the game open by hitting five 3-pointers, including three straight, in a 27-4 run over a 10:13 stretch of the second half. Craig Smith, who was slowed by Miami's tight zone defense in the first half, finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Sean Marshall added 10 points. Robert Hite had 18 points for the Hurricanes (14-11, 6-6).
No. 20 Washington 75, Oregon 72
EUGENE, Ore. -- Brandon Roy scored 21 points and Washington beat Oregon for the fifth straight time. Jamaal Williams added 17 points and Jon Brockman had 12 for the Huskies (19-5, 8-5 Pac-10). Maarty Leunen had a chance to tie the game for Oregon, but his 3-point attempt went off the front of the rim at the buzzer. Chamberlain Oguchi led the Ducks (11-15, 5-9) with 21 points, while Malik Hairston had 18 and Ivan Johnson 12.
