GIRLS BASKETBALL Lowellville ends 'Devils streak



The Rockets handed McDonald its first loss of the season, 59-43.
LOWELLVILLE -- The Lowellville High girls basketball team handed McDonald its first loss of the season, 59-43, behind the outstanding play of Jacque Schrader Wednesday night in an Inter-County League game.
Schrader, a 5-9 junior forward, delivered a career-high 21 points and 13 rebounds to spearhead the Rockets (13-7, 10-4), who lost earlier this season at McDonald, 51-41.
Ali Grapevine and Kristen Pallozzi each chipped in with 11 points while Kaitlin McCarthy added eight points with seven assists.
The Rockets were 17-for-22 from the foul line while the Blue Devils went 0-for-4.
Emily Dolsak had 13 points and Amy Dolsak and Ashleigh Tondo 12 apiece to lead McDonald (19-1, 13-1), which trailed 39-29 after three quarters.
South Range 71, Western Reserve 42
BERLIN CENTER -- Cindy Schuler had 22 points and seven rebounds to lead South Range, while Kelcie Witmer added six points, nine assists and seven steals.
Autumn Carter had 12 points for the Raiders (13-7, 10-4), while Heather Stacy and Lynn O'Connell each had 10.
Lainey Kekic had 11 points for the Blue Devils.
Mineral Ridge 52, Jackson-Milton 51
NORTH JACKSON -- Mineral Ridge pulled out a squeaker in the final quarter against Jackson-Milton.
The Rams (4-7, 7-10) were led by Rachel Siler with 11 points and Abbey Kiger with 10. Siler also had 12 rebounds.
The Bluejays (3-8, 6-11) were led by Megan Whitmer with 14 points and Jessica Balent added 11 points and seven rebounds. Whitmer also added six assists.
Springfield 57, Sebring 38
SEBRING -- Senior forward Joanna Dick scored 19 points and senior guard Christy Warren added 18 points for Springfield (12-8, 10-4).
Warren also had six of her team's 28 rebounds.
Megan Allcorn's 17 points paced Sebring.
Boardman 41, Fitch 23
AUSTINTOWN -- Courtney Schiffauer scored 14 points and April Melquist 12 to lead Boardman (13-6, 6-2 Federal League), which took a 22-9 halftime lead.
Courtney Williams had five points for Fitch (7-13, 0-8), which was outscored in the last period 13-2
Canfield 61, Canton GlenOak 42
CANFIELD -- Bryanne Halfhill tossed in 16 points and Kate Popovec added 15 for Canfield (15-5).
Danielle Pavlansky added 11 points for the Cardinals.
Beaver Local 51, Wilson 25
YOUNGSTOWN -- Sam Mobley had 12 points and 14 rebounds, Alex Smith scored 11 points and Megan Thomas had 13 assists for Beaver Local, which jumped out to an 11-2 lead.
Freshman Marcinde North had a game-high 17 points for Wilson. North, one of three freshmen starters for the Redmen, is averaging 25 points.
Raven Bradley had 15 rebounds for Wilson.
Campbell 33, Lordstown 28
CAMPBELL -- Sophia Brown scored 13 points and Danielle Bell added 12 for the Red Devils (3-16).
Brianna Blodgett had eight points to lead Lordstown (2-16).
