Yo. Christian girls win ESC championship
ASHTABULA -- Sophomore Victoria Bankhead had 12 points, while senior Rachel Coristin and sophomore Kara Cooper had 11 points apiece to lead the Youngstown Christian High girls basketball team, which defeated Cornerstone Christian 50-20 to clinch the East Suburban Conference championship.
Bankhead also had six rebounds and Danielle Pecchia, a senior, had 15 steals for the Eagles (18-2, 7-1). Youngstown Christian's two losses were to Mathews and Ledgemont. The Eagles open their Division IV tournament at Hubbard on Monday against Southington.
Uniontown Lake 62, Salem 37
UNIONTOWN -- Lake sophomore Brandy Gang scored 24 points and grabbed eight offensive rebounds to lead the Blue Streaks.
Zahra Scullion had 10 points and eight rebounds for Salem (15-5), which shot just 10 of 52 from the floor. Sarah Ravelli added eight points and Kelly Roelen had seven.
