POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty, Hubbard and Girard:
LIBERTY
Feb. 8
Weapons/drugs: After responding to the Knights Inn, 1600 Motor Inn Drive, regarding someone who refused to leave, police detained four people after saying they found damage to a room as well as numerous firearms, rounds of ammunition and a digital scale with suspected marijuana residue.
Assault: A Girard boy, 11, told police another 11-year-old Girard boy kicked, choked and knocked the victim to the ground near Lynn Street. The victim suffered injuries.
Domestic violence: Police arrested a 24-year-old Trumbull Court man near his residence and charged him with domestic violence. The man's father alleged he struck the victim in the neck during an argument; the older man was not injured.
Theft: A woman in the 5500 block of Logan Arms Drive discovered $250 missing from her purse. Also missing from her residence were a $3,500 bracelet, a men's wedding band and a men's diamond ring, for a loss of $5,750.
Criminal damaging: An employee at Miller's Towing, 4100 Belmont Ave., discovered damage to two vehicles' windshields, likely from a pellet gun. Estimated damage was almost $400.
Feb. 9
Arrests: Police conducting a registration check on a vehicle in the 30 block of Euclid Boulevard determined the car had been stolen in Youngstown, and they arrested two women, 34 and 45, and a man, 27, all from Youngstown. The man was charged with receiving stolen property (motor vehicle); charges against the women were receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers say they found two suspected crack pipes.
Feb. 10
Auto theft: A man in the 2700 block of Belmar Drive reported his 1992 Pontiac Transport stolen.
Arrest: Police arrested a Youngstown man, 61, during a traffic stop near Hadley Avenue. He was wanted on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in court.
Robbery: A Trumbull Court woman reported a man, 20 to 25, shoved the victim, grabbed her purse and fled.
Recovered property: While investigating a robbery on Trumbull Court, police found four gun boxes in a plastic bag inside a nearby trash bin.
Theft: A woman staying at the Tallyho-tel, 4249 Belmont Ave., accused another woman in her 20s of removing Vicodin and other medications from the victim's purse, as well as clothing from the room.
Feb. 11
Drugs: After stopping a car near state Route 193 and Colonial Drive, police charged a 55-year-old Youngstown man with possession of drug paraphernalia after they said a suspected crack pipe fell from the man as he got out of his vehicle. The suspect also was wanted on a charge of driving under suspension.
Feb. 12
Criminal damaging: A woman in the 100 block of Warner Road reported someone struck a lamp post in her yard with an unknown object, causing $100 in damage.
HUBBARD
Feb. 9
Criminal mischief: A man in the 1100 block of Fairchild Drive told police a vehicle, likely a four-wheeler, drove through his and several other yards in the area.
Assault: A County Line Road man reported his son, 10, was assaulted while at Reed Middle School, 150 Hall Ave.
Theft of services: A man in the 200 block of East Liberty Street reported that people were illegally using his apartment complex's trash bin.
Feb. 11
Theft: A woman in the 100 block of East Liberty Street reported the theft of her grandson's scooter.
Criminal damaging: A woman in the 100 block of Drummond Avenue found damage to her vehicle and mailbox.
Attempted breaking and entering: A worker at Best Rate Financial noticed damage had been done to a door after someone apparently tried to break in. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Feb. 13
Identity theft: A Parish Avenue couple discovered someone used their credit card to buy merchandise on amazon.com.
Feb. 14
Criminal damaging: A man in the 800 block of Woodland Avenue reported damage to his 1997 Chevrolet, done after someone apparently tried to steal it.
Arrest: After pulling over a car near East Liberty and Mackey streets, officers arrested a Hubbard man on two counts of resisting arrest and one count each of driving under suspension and operating a vehicle under the influence.
