Boardman boys sparked by Andy Chifolo's 20 points



Canfield defeated Mooney and Campbell beat Niles.
BOARDMAN -- Senior Andrew Chifolo scored eight of his 20 points in the second quarter Tuesday as Boardman defeated Struthers, 69-55.
The Spartans (10-8) led 14-12 after one quarter, but when Chifolo found his range, Boardman took a 32-23 lead into the lockerroom at the half.
Ed DeLuca scored 12 points while Erik Johnson and Jeff Olenych had 10 apiece to bolster the Spartans' attack.
Mike Duponty scored 21 points and Matt Kukura had 13 for the Wildcats (7-11).
Canfield 60, Mooney 52
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mooney's 44-39 lead entering the fourth quarter didn't last as visiting Canfield outscored the home team 21-8 in the final period.
Canfield fell behind in the third quarter when it managed just six points.
Mike Rounsaval and Troy Gessner had 13 points apiece to pace Canfield (13-5) while Desmond Marrow had 16 points and L.J. Sutton 15 for Mooney (8-8).
Marrow, a senior, also had six rebounds, five assists and five steals. Sutton, a sophomore, grabbed 10 rebounds.
Campbell 68, Niles 54
CAMPBELL -- Jermaine Richardson scored 18 points for the Red Devils (16-2). Trey Soares and Terrance Phillips each scored 15 points.
For Niles (11-7), Andrew Cleary scored 18 points, Justin Allen 16 and Bill Frech 12.
Poland 66, Chaney 65
POLAND -- Charlie Carchedi made a layup with 11 seconds remaining to give Poland a 66-62 lead.
Chaney's Antonio Fitzgerald connected on a 3-pointer with three seconds left, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs prevailed.
The Bulldogs (7-11) led 52-42 at the end of three quarters and the 23-14 fourth period rally by the Cowboys (4-13) just came up short.
Louis Coppola sparked Poland with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Carchedi finished with 11 points and Anthony DeFelice had nine assists.
Fitzgerald led the Cowboys with 18 points. Corey Council, Dominique Peake and John Ward added 12, 11 and 10 respectively.
West Branch 65, Marlington 40
BELOIT -- Andy Pappas had 17 points and 10 rebounds for West Branch, which jumped out to a 16-4 lead and never looked back.
East Liverpool 70, Howland 67
HOWLAND -- East Liverpool (6-12) built a 49-37 lead through three quarters.
Joe Wines paced the Potters with 22 points. Tony Metsch and Andrew Bobalik added 17 and 14, respectively.
Dario Hadzovic took scoring honors for Howland with 25 points. Nathan Cope chipped in with 17.
Cornerstone 46, Youngstown Christian 42
YOUNGSTOWN -- Although it made only one field goal in the fourth quarter, the Patriots were 10-of-15 from the foul line to post the victory.
Ed Gonda sparked the Eagles (6-12) with 15 points and he grabbed eight rebounds. Aaron Agresta had four steals.
