What are they?: Radio Frequency Identification chips, or RFIDs, the size of a grain of rice.
Who uses them?: Retailers use them to track delivery and sale of inventory.
Who makes them?: VeriChip Corp., a subsidiary of Applied Digital Solutions Inc. of Palm Beach, Fla., is the only government-approved supplier of chips for human implantation.
What's the problem?: Consumer advocates warn that the chips also could be used to track employees, perhaps without their knowledge.
