Man faces charges in reported stabbing

BOARDMAN -- A Youngstown man faces charges of felonious assault and resisting arrest, accused of stabbing a woman with whom he used to live.
Prince James Butler, 19, of McBride Street is expected in Mahoning County Area Court today. Police also discovered a warrant for Butler from Hubbard city police for obstructing official business.
Butler told police he and the 20-year-old Youngstown woman were arguing Friday evening in the Southern Park Mall when he took a utility blade out of her purse and cut her leg with it. He said the woman had the blade in her purse for protection.
A police report said Butler pulled away as an officer tried to handcuff him and while the officer was placing him in the cruiser. The officer used pepper spray on Butler when Butler tried to break a rear window of the cruiser with his head.
