Grand jury gets 4 Struthers robbery cases



STRUTHERS -- The three men accused of robbing the Struthers News and Beverage, 14 State St., and the man charged with robbing the First Place Bank office inside the Nemenz IGA on Creed Street were bound over to the Mahoning County grand jury at their preliminary hearings in municipal court this week.
Charged with breaking and entering, theft, fleeing and eluding police and receiving stolen property in the Struthers News robbery on Dec. 19 are Billie H. Gray, 39, of Eighth Street, Beaver Falls, Pa.; Donald B. Donaldson, 46, of Clearview Avenue, Warren; and Wayne A. Shaftic, 38, of Marshall Avenue, New Castle, Pa. Their preliminary hearings were Friday.
They are in the Mahoning County jail in lieu of 27,500 bond each. A misdemeanor drug charge against Shaftic was dismissed, court officials said.
Cory Sheely, 28, of Bancroft Avenue, Youngstown, charged with aggravated robbery and receiving stolen property in the bank holdup Dec. 9, also remains in county jail. His bond was set at 126,000 at his arraignment. His preliminary hearing was Wednesday.
