Trooper hit in Trumbull


CHAMPION — An Ohio State Highway Patrol sergeant was injured when his patrol car was struck by another car at state Route 45 and Folsom Street early Friday.

Sgt. Randall Skaggs was treated at St. Joseph Health Center.

The other driver, Monica Baka, 42, of Damon Avenue, Warren, was cited for aggravated vehicular assault while operating a vehicle under the influence.

The patrol reported that Skaggs was driving the marked car southbound on Route 45 around 1 a.m. when Baka drove her car through a red light at Folsom, colliding into the patrol car on the passenger side. Baka was not injured.
