OTTAWA -- Ray Emery stopped 18 shots in his second shutout of the season and Mike Fisher and Chris Kelly scored, leading the Ottawa Senators. Fisher scored his ninth goal late in the first period off Rick DiPietro, who was coming off consecutive shutout victories against Columbus and the New York Rangers. Kelly gave Ottawa an insurance goal at 16:29 of the third period when he redirected defenseman Anton Volchenkov's point shot past DiPietro with a second remaining in an Islanders bench penalty for abusing the officials. Emery stopped 18 shots as Ottawa outshot New York 29-18 overall, including a 12-3 margin in the first. The Senators won their second straight since losing leading scorer Jason Spezza to a knee injury in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Tampa Bay.
Red Wings 3, Wild 1
DETROIT -- Dominik Hasek made 32 saves and Johan Franzen had a goal and an assist to lift the Red Wings. It was Detroit's third consecutive game against Minnesota, and the Red Wings' second victory. Detroit won the first game and lost the second in overtime. Kirk Maltby and Henrik Zetterberg also scored for the Red Wings.
Panthers 3, Flyers 1
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Rostislav Olesz had a goal and an assist as the Panthers extended Philadelphia's franchise-record losing streak to 10 games. Jozef Stumpel and Mike Van Ryn also scored for Florida, which has won four of its last six. Martin Gelinas had two assists. Kyle Calder scored for the Flyers, who haven t won since beating the New York Islanders, 3-2, on Nov. 30. Ed Belfour made 23 saves for Florida. Mntero Niittymaki, making his 16th consecutive start for Philadelphia, stopped 22 shots before being replaced by Robert Esche after two periods. Esche, returning to action after missing 11 games following groin surgery, stopped eight of nine shots in the third.
Canadiens 4, Capitals 1
WASHINGTON -- Mathieu Dandenault and Aaron Downey scored first-period goals for Montreal. Saku Koivu and Sheldon Souray also scored and Guillaume Latendresse had two assists for Montreal, which has won six of seven games and three in a row against Washington. Canadiens goaltender Cristobal Huet came within 2:56 of his 14th career shutout, which Alexander Semin ruined by knocking in his own rebound at the left post on a power play.
