Historical society members selling afghans

AUSTINTOWN -- As a fundraising project, Austintown Historical Society is selling historic Austintown afghans in red, blue or green on cream backgrounds for 45. Also available are Cat's Meows of historic buildings in Austintown for 10 and miniature replicas of Fitch School (now Austintown Middle School) for 15 and of the new library for 20.

New leaders
Officers were chosen to fill leadership roles during 2007 when the organization met Dec. 5 at the Austin Log Cabin.
Elected for one-year terms were Joyce Pogany, president; Ray Calzo, vice president; Veronica Terzak, recording secretary; Janet Smart, corresponding secretary; Elaine Dovala, treasurer; and Pat Vallas, curator.
Chosen to fill positions as members of the board of directors for 2007-08 were Marjorie DeHoff, Carol Kuzma, Ron Kuzma, Mary Jane Miller, Bess Scott and Griff Thomas.
The newly-elected directors will serve with Bill Davis, Patricia Davis, Idabell DeHoff, Marge Gollner, Rae Jean Mollica, and Bev Myers, who were elected to serve on the board for 2006-07 terms.
The society meets each month at Austin Log Cabin or at the Strock Stone House Free tours of the historical buildings are available from 1 to 4 p.m. the first Sunday of each month. Free tours can also be scheduled for schools or organizations.
