Hanolt is busy body for Bulldogs



McDonald trounced Mineral Ridge, 78-39.
NORTH JACKSON -- Dan Hanolt scored 27 points and was nearly perfect -- and busy -- at the foul line, leading East Palestine High to a 68-51 victory over Jackson-Milton Friday night.
Hanolt made five baskets and was 17-for-19 at the free throw line (he made his first 16), for the Bulldogs (2-1).
Hanolt also had a game-high seven rebounds, while J.C. Bollinger finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Tom Powers added 13 points and four assists for East Palestine, which led 26-22 at halftime, then outscored the Bluejays 24-12 in the third quarter. Jack Figley had five assists.
Jackson-Milton (0-4) was led by Mike Nagy with 12 points, Tom Dugan with 11 and Nick Serb with 10. Serb and Nick MacLarren had four rebounds apiece.
McDonald 78, Mineral Ridge 39
MINERAL RIDGE -- Andy Timko scored 25 points and Bradley Hinton added 11 for McDonald in an Inter Tri-County League crossover game between two old rivals.
Steven Hughes added 10 points for the Blue Devils.
Mineral Ridge (2-3) was led by Nick Dominic's nine points.
Hubbard 52, South Range 30
HUBBARD -- The Eagles led only 35-29 after three periods, but held the Raiders without a field goal over the final eight minutes.
Marc Kanetsky scored 21 points for Hubbard, all on 3-pointers. Frank Rosile added 12 points for the Eagles, who led 17-16 at halftime.
David Rach led South Range with nine points.
Leetonia 63, Yo. Christian 51
LEETONIA -- Aaron Valentine scored 19 points and Cody Mead and Jon Williams evenly split 26 points to pace the Bears (5-1).
Williams had six rebounds and Corey Rauschenbach had eight assists.
Edward Gonda scored 19 points and Poda Olarewaju had 11 points for the Eagles (3-2).
Springfield 46, Girard 42
GIRARD -- Attempting to make up for lost time, Girard scored 30 second-half points, but fell short.
The Indians were down, 40-28 after three quarters, then battled back to lead briefly by one point near the end.
Shawn Kibby's 12 points paced Springfield.
Senior forward Doug Starr and junior guard Marty Brinker had 13 points apiece for Girard (1-4).
Columbiana 68, Crestview 58
COLUMBIANA -- Joe Blinsky had 16 points, Josh Weikart added 14 and Joey Winters had 10 points for Columbiana (4-2, 3-0). Andrew Tirpak had eight rebounds, five steals and five assists.
Jakob Leon had 20 points, Drew Gates added 15 and Andrew Kestner 11 for Crestview.
Southern 68, East Liverpool Christian 44
EAST LIVERPOOL -- Andrew Diaz had 20 points and Tyler Baker added 17 for Southern, which pulled away in the third quarter.
Cody Warnock had 10 rebounds for the winners.
Rob McCoy's 17 points paced E.L. Christian.
Lowellville 68, Brookfield 56
