Boardman hires Berarducci

BOARDMAN — Township trustees believe a Mahoning County native who’s been in federal law enforcement for nearly 30 years is the best choice to lead the police department.

By a 3-0 vote, trustees hired Patrick Berarducci during a special meeting Friday.

Berarducci, who has been an agent with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms ad Explosives for 28 years, will earn $93,200 per year.

He begins the job Feb. 20. The length of his contract hasn’t been determined.

He is a native of Youngstown’s South Side and a graduate of Wilson High School and Youngstown State University. Before joining ATF, he served four years as a Youngstown police officer.

His wife, the former Judy Barrett, is a township native and a Cardinal Mooney High School graduate. Her father, Tom Barrett, was a former township trustee.
