New cruisers in Austintown
AUSTINTOWN — Township police will soon have three new cruisers, police Chief Bob Gavalier told township trustees tonight.
The three Ford Crown Victorias will each cost $20,607, he said. They should be delivered in three to five months, he said.
Gavalier said the department received a $17,000 state grant for its anti-drug Drug Abuse Resistance Education school program.
It also received $1,400 from the Fraternal Order of Eagles for D.A.R.E., and $5,000 toward a new police dog, he said. The department is retiring its dog Hurie, who will soon be 10 years old. A new dog will cost $10,000, Gavalier has said.
