Roberts scores 27 in Penguins' win



Youngstown State defeated James Madison to win its third in four games.

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Keston Roberts led all scorers with 27, guiding Youngstown State over James Madison, 78-58, Tuesday night.
The Penguins (5-7) were in front for all but the first three minutes.
James Madison (2-7) narrowed Youngstown State's 10-point halftime lead to five with 17:51 left in the game.
But the Penguins went on a 12-2 run to make it 57-42, putting the Dukes out of striking distance.
Roberts made 11 of 18 from the field, including 3 of 6 from behind the arc, and had six rebounds.
Quin Humphrey scored 15 points and added nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals. John Barber added 13 for Youngstown State, which has won three of four.
James Madison's Joe Posey scored 16, Juwann James had 13 and Pierre Curtis added 11.
Shooting
The Penguins outshot James Madison, 51.8 percent to 38.9 percent. The Dukes shot just 33 percent from the field in the second half, hitting 4 of 13 from 3-point range. YSU, meanwhile, shot 55 percent in the second half -- including 3 of 7 from behind the arc -- to outscored James Madison 37-26 over the final 20 minutes.
It was only the second meeting between the teams. The Penguins won last season at Beeghly Center 72-65.
James Madison hadn't played since Dec. 10 when it dropped a 74-70 contest to Dartmouth. The Dukes have also lost to nationally ranked Georgetown 89-53 and Wake Forest 91-82.
They are 2-3 at home this season.
YSU will close out its four-game road trip at Kent State on Friday in a 7 p.m. tip-off at the MAC Center.
The Penguins will return home on Dec. 30 to face Horizon League opponent Loyola in a 4:05 p.m. tipoff which will follow the YSU women's game against Butler at 2 p.m.
