Layout is approved for proposed development

AUSTINTOWN -- The Mahoning County Planning Commission has unanimously approved the layout of streets and lots for a 67-acre single-family residential development to be built on the north side of Gibson Road just west of Turner Road in Canfield Township.
The development approved Tuesday is known as Parry Farms and proposed by developer James DiCioccio. With two entrances on Gibson Road, it consists of 128 buildable lots, but it would have no sidewalks, said Sarah A. Gartland, the commission's flood-plain administrator.
The development would include about 7,700 feet of proposed new streets. Sewer and water lines are available to the site, and, wherever possible, utilities will be underground and trees retained, according to planning commission documents.
DiCioccio, who plans to demolish some barns on the property, submitted the plan for Parry Farms after township voters in November rejected a zone change from agricultural to planned unit development at that location. In doing so, the voters blocked DiCioccio's previous proposal for a development known as Bella Nicolina, which would have consisted of clusters of condominiums on that site.
