SteelHounds finish up road trip with 4-2 win at Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Youngstown SteelHounds capped off an eight-game, three-week road swing Saturday night with a 4-2 victory over the Oklahoma City Blazers.
The SteelHounds jumped out early with a 2-0 lead thanks to the veteran connection of Chris Richards and Jeff Christian each netting their 14th goals of the season early in the first period.
Marty Standish of Oklahoma City cut the lead to one with his ninth goal of the season, on a power play to make it 2-1 after one period.
That would be as close as the Blazers would get. In the second period Tab Lardner and Shaun Landolt each scored their seventh goals of the season, both of which were on the power play -- the SteelHounds went 2-for-11 with the man advantage -- as Youngstown took a 4-1 lead after two periods.
Oklahoma City's Jared Dumba scored a power play goal at 17:34 of the third period to round out the scoring.
The Blazers were 2-for-9 on the power play.
There would be no bench clearing brawl but Blazers forward Garrett Prosofsky was ejected in the second period for a charge on Y-Town defensemen, Paul Esdale.
The SteelHounds (12-6-5) finished their long road trip with a 4-3-1 record and two-game winning streak.
Youngstown returns to the Chevrolet Centre for a five-game homestand, starting Thursday against the Austin Ice Bats at 7:05 p.m.
