Flood victims
The government has approved nearly $32 million to help repair northern Ohio homes and businesses damaged by two storms that caused widespread flooding this summer, officials said.About $18 million was set aside for victims of the June 21-23 flooding in Cuyahoga, Erie, Lucas, Huron, Sandusky and Stark counties, said Sam Ventura of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.In addition, $13.8 million has been approved for property damaged by the flooding that followed heavy rains in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties July 27-28.The deadline for seeking federal aid from the June storms is Thursday. People affected by the July floods can apply for aid until Sept. 30.
