Niles man convicted in robberies
WARREN -- A jury has found a 36-year-old Niles man guilty on all but one of the 13 felony charges he faced in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Michael H. Goodman, of Olive Street, was convicted of robberies at Country Fair and Niles Inn on Youngstown-Warren Road, Warren; Manfredi's Pizza on Vienna Avenue, Cheap Tobacco on North Road and Pit-N-Git on Robbins, all in Niles; and a house on Tod Avenue in Lordstown.
The jury, which reported its verdicts Monday, found him innocent on one charge: kidnapping during one of the robberies. He was also convicted of using a gun in commission of six of the crimes, which adds additional time to his sentence.
Chris Becker, assistant Trumbull County prosecutor who handled the case, estimated that Goodman faces between 25 to 30 years in prison. He will be sentenced by Judge Andrew Logan on Oct. 3.
Goodman has been incarcerated in the county jail since his arrest in November 2004.
