Breeders club to hold horse and pony sale



Sunday, August 27, 2006 CANFIELD — The Mahoning Valley Pony Breeder's Association will hold its annual fall sale Sept. 23 in the cattle arena of the Canfield Fairgrounds. Association spokeswoman Robin Adams said that new tack will begin selling at 9:30 a.m., and used tack will sell at 1 p.m. Ponies and horses will sell at 4 p.m., she said The club has once again chosen S&C Tack from Ravenna as its tack vendor; it will sell new tack, and the association will get commission on what's sold. Other vendors can be outside the arena selling their wares if they pay a $20 fee and give advance notice that they'll be there, Adams said. The deadline to consign a horse or pony is Sept. 18. Anyone who wants to consign a pony or horse should contact Adams at (330) 547-8816 or Sam Mathias at (330) 831-1065. Animals don't have to be consigned to be sold, but they must be consigned to be listed in the sale catalog, Adams said. There is no fee to consign a horse or pony. A negative Coggins test must be current and must accompany the animal on the day of the sale. Commission on the sale of horses or ponies is 7 percent of the last bid, with $30 being set as the No-Sale fee. Tack commission is 15 percent. For more information, contact Mathias or Adams.
