Western theme chosen for cancer society ball



Proceeds will be used for projects working toward the elimination of cancer.
LORDSTOWN -- The American Cancer Society will hold a Cattle Baron's Ball from 6 to 11 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Henn Homestead, state Route 45.
"Hoedown at the Homestead" is the country western theme chosen for the evening of musical entertainment, food, games, midway attractions and a silent auction.
During the ball, Dr. Robert DeMarco will be honored for his contributions to the American Cancer Society over the past 12 years. Also recognized will be James McFeeley, a prostate cancer survivor, for his contributions to the society's Man to Man prostate cancer support group program.
Just for fun
Among the evening's activities will be a cow milking contest, quarterback toss, shooting gallery, golf challenge, ring toss, corn hole toss, a cow pie fly and other contests.
Refreshments will be available throughout the evening at a bruschetta bar, a pasta bar and a coffee bar.

Proceeds will be used by the society in various ways to help eliminate cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. Patrons can support the program by purchasing a sponsorship package or program acknowledgment, or by donating items for the auction.
