Unmasked gunman robs bank in Giant Eagle store

BOARDMAN -- Township police and the FBI are asking for the public's help to catch an unmasked gunman who robbed the First Place Bank branch inside the Giant Eagle store, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road, just minutes after it opened at 9 a.m. Friday.
After earlier inquiring on when the bank opened, the robber, wearing a black leather coat, black cap with a Detroit Tigers insignia and black hoodie and armed with a black semiautomatic handgun, re-entered the store and handed a note to the teller demanding money, said acting police Chief Jerre Patterson.
The robber showed the teller the gun, and she gave him an undisclosed amount of money from the cash drawer.
The robber then fled out the door of the store in the direction of West Boulevard. Patterson said there were several employees in the bank and customers in the store when the robbery occurred. He said there were no injuries.
