Saturday, August 26, 2006 A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard: GIRARD Aug. 21 Criminal damage: A man in the 100 block of Ada Street discovered two punctures in the side of his inflatable swimming pool. Auto theft/recovered property: Niles police found a 1988 Cadillac Brougham in a wooded area after it had been reported stolen from Reliable Auto Sales, 1000 S. State St. Criminal damage: A man reported someone broke 15 windows on six cars near a railroad crossing on Byers Street. Estimated total damage was $3,285.53. Theft/menacing: A Youngstown man told police another man threatened him with an ice pick or similar weapon after the victim confronted the man about items missing from a table at a flea market in the 50 block of West Liberty Street. Aug. 22 Assault: A Trumbull Court woman alleged her boyfriend struck her during an argument. Aug. 23 Burglary: Someone entered a residence in the 500 block of Joan Avenue through the garage. A jewelry box containing nearly $16,000 worth of jewelry was missing. Criminal mischief: A woman in the 200 block of Illinois Avenue found mustard and powder smeared on her vehicle. Criminal damage: Someone destroyed a vehicle's dashboard in the 70 block of Morris Lane in an attempt to remove the stereo and used a key to damage the car's front fender and hood. Aug. 24 Domestic violence: Police arrested a 19-year-old man at his Belgrade Avenue residence on a domestic-violence charge after his father alleged the man struck him in the face, hit him in the arm with a baseball bat and bit him. The father had a bloody nose and bruises. LIBERTY Aug. 17 Burglary: Authorities picked up a Youngstown woman, 18, at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown. She was wanted on a warrant from Liberty charging her with one count of burglary. Arrest: Youngstown police handed over to Liberty authorities a 19-year-old Youngstown man wanted on a warrant from Liberty charging him with complicity to burglary. Arrest: Boardman police turned over a 20-year-old Youngstown man to Liberty authorities. The man was wanted on a felony warrant from Liberty accusing him of passing bad checks. Burglary: Someone forcibly entered a residence in the 5300 block of Lakeview Avenue. Nothing appeared to be missing. Bad checks: Three counts of passing bad checks were filed against a Girard woman, 21, after someone passed three checks from closed accounts totaling $702 at Sherwin Williams Co., 111 E. Liberty St. Possible assault: A worker with Trumbull County Children Services, Warren, investigated an employee of Belmont Pines Hospital, 615 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, after a 13-year-old patient complained that excessive force had been used to control him. Aug. 18 Assault: A 16-year-old patient at Belmont Pines Hospital suffered a split lip after being struck in the face. Assault: A girl reported a 13-year-old patient at Belmont Pines kicked her several times in the right knee. The victim was bleeding and had several marks. Drug paraphernalia: After pulling over a car near state Route 193 and Interstate 80, police arrested a 53-year-old Sharon, Pa., man on charges of having no driver's license and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers said they found a suspected crack pipe in the man's duffel bag. Stolen property/drugs: After receiving a call regarding an attempted theft at Auto Zone, 3109 Belmont Ave., police caught up to and arrested a 43-year-old Youngstown man. He faced charges of receiving stolen property, theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse (crack cocaine) after officers said they found a suspected crack pipe and small amounts of suspected crack cocaine as well as merchandise belonging to the business. Drugs: After responding to a report of possible drug activity in the parking lot at Quality Inn & Suites, 4055 Belmont Ave., officers made four arrests. Charges of permitting drug abuse and possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia were filed against a Cortland woman, 25, as well as two men, 49 and 51, and a woman, 23, all of Youngstown, after police said they found crack pipes, syringes and other suspected drug-related items. The Cortland woman also was wanted on a warrant charging her with burglary. Assault: A Lake Milton woman alleged a 42-year-old Girard man struck her in the shoulder during a dispute at a residence in the 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue. Theft: Police arrested a 27-year-old Newton Falls woman on a theft charge after four bags of shrimp, a package of spare ribs and three other items were stolen from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave. Aug. 19 Possible theft: A temporary tag was lost or stolen from a vehicle in the 3100 block of Goleta Avenue. Criminal damage: A man found someone had tossed eggs at his home in the 3400 block of Denver Drive. Aug. 20 Arrest: Police arrested a 20-year-old Columbus man at a Shell True North gas station, 3990 Belmont Ave., after police learned he was wanted on a warrant from Liberty charging him with failure to appear in court to answer a charge of violating an order of protection. Criminal damage: A truck's windshield was smashed at Forum Health, 3551 Belmont Ave. Auto theft: A man reported his 1986 Chevrolet Cavalier stolen from Shulte Auto Wrecking, 3737 Logangate Road. Theft: A man accused his girlfriend, 31, of removing a $1,000 sectional set and a $200 mattress from his residence in the 3700 block of Oakwood Avenue. Aug. 21 Domestic violence: Police charged a 16-year-old girl with domestic violence and being an unruly juvenile after a family member reported being pushed and shoved several times while trying to intervene in a fight. The teenager was arrested at her East Montrose Street home. Recovered property: Police found an abandoned 10-speed bicycle outside LaFrance Full Service Laundry, 3433 Belmont Ave. Vandalism: Someone broke a plate-glass window at Liberty Sweeper Sales & Service, 152 Church Hill-Hubbard Road. Theft: A Youngstown man reported returning to Giant Eagle to retrieve his wallet but finding it missing. Aug. 22 Criminal damage: Someone used a rock to break an apartment window in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive. Theft: A woman in the 500 block of Warner Road found that three gold rings and a gold bracelet were taken from her home. The loss came to $550. Aug. 23 Recovered property: Police found four plastic lounge chairs, a park bench, two basketball hoops and two grills on Powers Drive. Arrest: Officers took into custody a 47-year-old East Palestine woman on Belmont Avenue who was wanted on a felony warrant from Austin, Texas. The original charge was parole violation. Theft: A woman discovered 85 prescription medications and $20 missing from her apartment in the 3000 block of Hadley Avenue. Arrest: After stopping a vehicle near state Route 193 and I-80, officers arrested a Niles man wanted on a warrant from Warren. A hypodermic needle was found, they said. Theft: A Youngstown woman discovered $40 missing from her account at Home Savings and Loan, 3500 Belmont Ave., after forgetting to take her automated-teller-machine card. Vehicle theft: A Campbell man reported the theft of his 1997 Dodge Caravan from the 10 block of Tuttle Drive. HUBBARD Aug. 19 Arrest: Brookfield police turned over a Hubbard man to Hubbard authorities. He was wanted on a felony warrant from Hubbard charging him with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Aug. 20 Criminal mischief: A woman in the 200 block of Raymond Drive found a portion of her fence damaged. Criminal damage: A woman in the 40 block of Regina Drive found damage to her vehicle. Recovered property: A man found a small bicycle and a motorized cart in his yard in the 100 block of Mackey Street. Aug. 23 Bad check: A Mentor, Ohio, man reported getting a check from a Hubbard business that was drawn on a closed account.
