Wednesday, August 23, 2006 REGION Valley jobless rates near year-ago levels YOUNGSTOWN — Unemployment rates in the Mahoning Valley rose in July, back to levels that they were at a year earlier. The state released these jobless rates Tuesday for July: Mahoning County, 6.7 percent; compared with 5.9 percent in June and 6.8 percent last July; Youngstown, 9 percent, compared with 7.8 percent in June and 9 percent last July; Trumbull County, 7 percent, compared with 5.6 percent in June and 7.8 percent last July; and Columbiana County, 6.4 percent, compared with 5.9 percent in June and 6.8 percent last July. Ohio's jobless rate in July was 5.8 percent. SCORE will conduct free business workshop WARREN — SCORE will offer a free workshop for business entrepreneurs at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday. SCORE is an organization of retired business executives. Topics will include business plans, marketing, advertising, financial issues and free resources available at the public library.
