'Reelin' by the River' focuses on youngsters

WARREN -- The Mahoning River Consortium and co-sponsors, Muskies Inc. and the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County, are gearing this Saturday's "Reelin' by the River" to the area's youths.
The event will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on the banks of the Mahoning River at the Warren Community Amphitheater in Perkins Park.
One of the featured activities is a fishing derby for kids ages 6-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should take a fishing pole and tackle. Bait will be provided. Other activities planned are stone skipping and interactive ecology learning stations. Participants can also enjoy a guided tour of the "Great Trees of Perkins Park."
Live Creole blues and Zydeco music by Creole Stomp will follow at 7 p.m. at Warren's Courthouse Park. That event is part of the Saturday Night Specials Summer Entertainment Series organized by the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County. Both events are free and family-oriented.
