MERCER, Pa. -- The director of Mercer County Children and Youth Services, who resigned in July, has been reinstated to the position.
Mercer County commissioners announced at their chief clerk's meeting Tuesday that Mary Ann Daniels has decided not to pursue a doctorate in child psychology. She had announced her resignation effective Aug. 4 to return to school.
Commissioner Brian Beader said it was a "personal decision on her part" and added, "We were glad to receive her back." She will be reinstated at her former salary with no interruption in tenure.

Also Tuesday, Mercer County Treasurer Ginny Steese Richardson said the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Pennsylvania Game Commission have announced changes designed to make buying fishing and hunting licenses quicker.
She said that beginning in December, applicants can swipe their driver's license through equipment that will be provided by the state to her office, and a license will then be printed out. The same change will be implemented for hunting licenses in June 2007, she said. Currently, Richardson's office receives blank licenses that have to be filled out for applicants.
County officials also advised residents of targeted areas in South Pymatuning, Shenango and Fairview townships to stay inside with the windows closed from 8 to 9 p.m. Thursday while crews spray for the mosquitoes that can carry the West Nile virus.
If it rains Thursday, spraying will take place Friday. For any questions, contact the Mercer County Conservation District at (724) 662-2242.
