Pattersons mark golden anniversary with open house

Sunday, August 20, 2006 BOARDMAN — An open house at Poland United Methodist Church was held Aug. 13 to honor Mr. and Mrs. James Patterson, 654 Oakridge Drive, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. Hosting the event were the couple's daughters and their spouses, Jill and Jeff Groat and Judy and Bill Volosin, all of Boardman. Also held in their honor was a family dinner at Caffé Capri on Aug. 19. Mr. Patterson and the former Joyce Hicks were married Aug. 19, 1956, at the First Methodist Church in Fostoria. They are members of Poland United Methodist Church. Mr. Patterson retired from Sears after 42 years' employment. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956, including a two-year tour of duty in Japan. He is past president of the Boardman Lions Club. Mrs. Patterson retired after teaching in the Youngstown City School District and is a homemaker. There are eight grandchildren in their family.
