Sunday, August 20, 2006 The Scrappers return home today for a 4:05 p.m. game with Batavia. STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning to defeat the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 4-2, in a New York-Penn League game Saturday at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. Staten Island swept the Scrappers (30-27), winning all three games by a combined score of 13-2. The Yankees maintained their hold on the best overall record in the New York-Penn League. Jump on DeLage Staten Island jumped on Scrappers pitcher William DeLage in the second, scoring all four of their runs. Jose Gil, Wilkins De LaRosa and Seth Fortenberry all hit singles in the inning. Scrappers shortstop Joshua Rodriguez and right fielder Cirillo Cumberbatch each had errors. Scrappers second baseman Adam Davis had two hits and scored the Scrappers' only two runs in the fifth and eighth innings to lead the Scrappers. The Scrappers return home today for a 4:05 p.m. game with Batavia, which marks the start of a five-game homestand. Former Indians pitcher Lenny Barker will throw out the first pitch and will sign autographs. Barker threw a no-hitter for the Indians. The Scrappers will play Batavia for two nights before playing host to Jamestown for three.
