Homework Express seeking teachers

Sunday, August 20, 2006

Sunday, August 20, 2006 YOUNGSTOWN — Area math teachers interested in participating in this season's Homework Express program at Youngstown State University are encouraged to attend an open audition and information session from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the television studio of Bliss Hall. Homework Express is a twice-a-week, interactive call-in television show broadcast live from YSU. The show, produced by the telecommunications program in YSU's College of Fine and Performing Arts, was recently nominated for an Emmy Award by the Cleveland Regional Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Hosted by WHOT-FM's Kelly Stevens, the show is broadcast from studios located in Bliss Hall. School pupils, mostly in grades 6 through 8, call into the show and get assistance with homework questions from on-air teachers. The show also features fun segments like video questions, taped science experiments and a brainteaser question. Auditions are held periodically to help interested teachers connect with the show. For more information, call (330) 941-1855.
