Health event to focus on benefits of humor



Sunday, August 20, 2006 A little humor can reduce the dangerous long-term effects of stress.LIBERTY — "All Stressed Up and No One to Choke" is the theme chosen by Karen Vadino, motivational speaker, for the annual Forum Health Women's Health Event to be held by the Western Reserve Care System Woman's Board and Trumbull Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary of Forum Health. Scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex Centre, the event will include exhibits, dinner and Vadino's presentation. A humorist, trainer and consultant, Vadino will offer an entertaining insightful view of stress. She will teach the audience how to recognize and find effective ways to reduce stress, which can contribute to such things as heart attacks, diabetes, ulcers, neck and low back pain, anxiety and depression. A nationally recognized speaker, Vadino has 20 years of experience in the field of human services and 15 years as a trainer and educator. An individual, group and family counselor for adults and children, she has taught classes in social work, sociology, juvenile justice, and human development at Youngstown and Pennsylvania state universities and Westminster College. Admission to the event is $22, and registration is required by Sept. 13.
