Gardners celebrate 50th anniversary with golf, dinner

Sunday, August 20, 2006 YOUNGSTOWN — The 50th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Robert V. Gardner, 6051 Applecrest Drive, was celebrated July 15 with an all-day golf outing at Firestone Farms in Columbiana, followed by a family dinner at the Canfield home of the couple's daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Jim West. Mr. and Mrs. Gardner also have a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Joanne Gardner of Youngstown, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Gardner married the former Jean Eagleton on June 16, 1956, at the Third Reformed Church in Youngstown. They are members of Faith Community Church. Mr. Gardner retired in October 1999 after working for The May Co. then Boardman School District as a warehouseman and custodian. He is a member of Masonic Lodge, Western Star Lodge, Scottish Rite, Greater Youngstown Track Officials Association and the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Mrs. Gardner was employed at Southside Hospital as a registered nurse and retired in September 1988. She is a member of the Ohio Nurses Association and is active with Second Harvest Food Bank and Angels for Animals.
