Church project in need of donations

Sunday, August 20, 2006 GREENFORD — Greenford Christian Church, 11767 Lisbon Road, seeks donations of material, equipment and labor to accomplish its goal of building the Big Reach Center of Hope. Construction is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Sept. 15. The project was selected as a local effort of "Extreme Makeover: My Hometown," which airs nationally on ABC. Its local affiliate, WYTV Channel 33, is a sponsor. The center, which will house a food pantry, library, warehouse, classrooms and distribution center, will be dedicated Sept. 23. The work will continue around the clock for seven days and equipment will start to be moved in Sept. 21. Scott Lewis, Big Reach Ministries coordinator, said volunteers are needed to help with all aspects of the project. Among items especially needed are office equipment, garage doors and walk-in cooler and freezer. For a complete list of equipment and materials needed, visit bigreachministries.org or www.wytv.com. TC Quality Homes, who built the "Extreme Makeover" home in Boardman last year, will coordinate construction and Western Reserve Building Trades will donate labor. The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania Big Reach Ministries sponsors Christmas and school projects to assist families in need with food, clothing and other supplies.
