Area chefs to reveal cooking secrets in classes



Sunday, August 20, 2006 Residents will learn how to cook specialty dishes prepared by area chefs. YOUNGSTOWN — Area chefs will demonstrate their expertise as they conduct a series of cooking classes during the third annual Chefs' Secrets fundraiser to be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. Only a limited number of tickets will be sold for the event, which will benefit Sojourner House Domestic Violence Program. Classes will be offered in appetizers, side dishes, entrees and desserts, and those participating will have an opportunity to select the courses they wish to attend. Some of the chefs are affiliated with area restaurants, and others are local gourmet chefs. Each class will last approximately 30 minutes, and afterward the students will dine on items they have learned to cook. The ballroom will have an exposition area, where vendors will promote some of the area's food-related businesses, and there will be a Chinese and a silent auction, raffles and a cash bar. Talented teachers Among those teaching classes will be Michael Strollo, Marcia Malmer, Victor Calautti, Nicholas Mileto, Alan Donatelli, Ken McIntyre, Rick Keyse, Ron Marian, Jeff Chrystal, Terry Cloonan, Carol Potter, Diane Buser, Nunzio Scordo, Joe Dorbish, Tony and Phyllis Olin, Brian Palumbo, Joe Sylvester, Mike Landgraff, Lynn Porch, Claudia Wheland, Dave Windsor, Adele Economus and Collin Donohue.
