Trustees likely to hire Mascarella for post

Wednesday, April 26, 2006

HOWLAND -- Kim Mascarella, a regional environmental specialist, is expected to be named deputy director of the township's planning and zoning office.
"We're really pleased," Darlene St. George, township administrator, said Tuesday.
Mascarella's appointment is on the trustees' agenda for today's meeting. She is well-known in the environmental community.
St. George said Mascarella will be paid $37,000 annually and begins work May 15. She will replace retiring Ray Benetto.
Mark Zuppo Jr., the township's director of planning and zoning, said Mascarella wants to become more involved in the community rather than at the regional level. She will also be instrumental in writing grant proposals.
Mascarella, of Warren, has been director of environmental planning with the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments since 2003. Before that, she was an environmental planner with Eastgate.
She has worked on projects that deal with environmental components of land use planning, Mahoning River dredging and wastewater planning.
She is a 1999 magna cum laude graduate of Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in environmental studies.
