Symphony Chorusto present concert
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Symphony Chorus' spring concert will be a mix of traditional classical and contemporary music. Titled "A Jubilant Song," the concert will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave. at 7 p.m. May 13. Joining the chorus and director Don Megahan will be Dr. Richard Konzen as accompanist on the organ. Guest vocalists from Pittsburgh will be Katy Shackleton Williams, soprano; Patricia Donohue, mezzo-soprano; Andre Bierman, tenor; and Raymond Blackwell, baritone. Donation for the concert is $10 at the door. Advance tickets are two for the price of one. Youngstown State University students and all youths are admitted free. Handbell choirto ring in spring
ALLIANCE -- The Mount Union College Handbell Choir will present Spring Ring in the Myers Sanctuary of Dewald Chapel on at 8 p.m. Monday. The newly reactivated four-octave Handbell Choir is under the direction of Christine Allison, adjunct professor of music. Allison, a 1976 Mount Union graduate, is the director of music for the Church of the Lakes United Methodist Church in Canton. The concert is free and open to the public. SummerFest holdsauditions for singers
GARRETTSVILLE -- The second annual Garrettsville Idol competition will hold open call auditions for all singers on May 7 at James A. Garfield High School, 10233 state Route 88. Contestants must be prepared to sing without music. There is a $5 registration fee deadline by May 5. Auditions for those age 8 to 12 are at 1 p.m.; 13 to 17, 2 p.m.; 18 and older, 3 p.m. Finalists will perform June 18 at the Garrettsville SummerFest, which runs June 16-18. Good Life Singersto present concert
ASHTABULA -- The Good Life Singers will present their annual spring concert on April 28-29. Both performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Ashtabula Arts Centers indoor theater, 2928 W. 13th St. A free reception will be held following the performance. Cost of the event is $8 for adults and $7 for seniors. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Ashtabula Arts Center at (440) 964-3396.
