Police investigate theft of ATM at BP station

NORTH JACKSON -- Jackson Township police hope to receive tips from motorists about a Saturday morning burglary at a gas station in which an automated teller machine was stolen.
Two men entered the BP station at Mahoning Avenue and state Route 45 at about 6:17 a.m. Saturday. The men had a hand truck that they used to take the ATM, which wasn't bolted to the floor, Lt. Chris Pasvanis said. The duo was in and out of the station in about 20 seconds, he added.
Film from the station's surveillance cameras shows there were other cars at the intersection while the burglary was under way. Pasvanis said anyone with information should call the police department at (330) 538-3093.
The owner of the machine said it can hold up to $1,200, but it's not known how many people used the device before it was stolen, Pasvanis said.
Another ATM was stolen Friday from a BP station on state Route 534 in Milton Township.
