Southington, JFK and Badger qualify in Div. III

GARRETTSVILLE -- Matt Griggs won medalist honors with a round of 71, leading the Southington High boys golf team to a second place finish in the Division III sectional Wednesday at the Sugar Bush course.
Warren JFK won the team title with 331 points. Southington carded 334 and Badger was third with 344 in the field of 14 schools. The qualifiers advance to district tournament next week at Seven Hills Golf Course in North Canton.
Nick Moody led JFK with 77, followed by teammates Scott Difford (81), Jim Pipino (85) and Nick Basciano (87).
Chris Griggs shot 82 for the Wildcats, followed by Loren Mcintosh (87) and Andy Rutkus (94).
Erich Bonar paced Badger with 83, Nick Landis had 84, Mike Waters 86 and Russ Armstrong 91.
Individual qualifiers are Mathews' Cory Feist (81), Lisbon's Zach Seidner (82) and LaBrae's Corey Hines (85).
Division II
VIENNA -- Jonathan Hamarick of Mooney (70) was medalist for Cardinal Mooney, which finished second in Tuesday's Div. II sectional.
Ursuline was team champion with 300. Mooney was second with 304 and West Branch finished third with 316. The three schools qualified for the district tournament at Windmill Lakes golf course in Ravenna next week.
The Irish's Joseph Santise carded 73, Ryan Spear 76, Paul Cene 79 and Jake Detec 72.
Tom Eich fired 76 for Mooney, Joe St. George had 78 and Nick Stubler 80.
Randall Crowe and Shawn Linder each shot 78 for West Branch and the Warriors' Benjamin Heverly and Joseph Vizuso both carded 80s.
