The local PBS station will air a Pink Floyd tribute show and a Trans-Siberian Orchestra show Saturday.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Belkin Productions and the Youngstown Convocation Center announced Monday two new concerts coming to the downtown arena.
Barenaked Ladies will perform a Christmas show at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5, and the Australian Pink Floyd Show will be Nov. 2.
Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at www.gettix.net, www.belkinproductions.com and all gettix.net locations including the arena box office in the City Centre One Building in downtown Youngstown, Skate Zone in Austintown and USA Cinema in Niles. To charge by phone, call (866) 443-8849. Barenaked Ladies tickets are $46 and $35, and Pink Floyd Show tickets are $35 and $27.50.
Founded in 1988 by singer-guitarists Steven Page and Ed Robertson, Toronto's Barenaked Ladies have sold more than 10 million records worldwide with hits like "One Week," "Pinch Me" and "If I Had a Million Dollars." They have developed a reputation as one of North America's best-loved live acts.
Eric Kossow, director of the arena, said the Barenaked Ladies show will be a regular concert with a Christmas theme.
Pink Floyd Show
The Australian Pink Floyd Show is the only one that David Gilmour, Pink Floyd guitarist, endorses. He has described it as "a show that truly embraces the Floyd legacy."
The tribute band's production includes a laser show as it explores every facet of Pink Floyd's long and diverse career, and gives a note-for-note rendition of the album "Dark Side Of The Moon."
To get a sneak preview of the Pink Floyd show, tune in to PBS channel 45/49 at 8 p.m. Saturday, when the channel will broadcast the show.
Also, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the PBS station will air "Trans-Siberian Orchestra: Ghosts of Christmas Eve."
Trans-Siberian Orchestra will be at the Convocation Center on Nov. 13. Kossow said ticket sales are "incredible" for the TSO show.
