HUBBARD -- A city man accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the local Veterans of Foreign Wars will be arraigned Tuesday in Girard Municipal Court.
Police arrested Lee Keys, 33, Thursday morning. Police said Keys will remain free on a personal recognizance bond because of his cooperation in the investigation.
Police said Keys, who served as quartermaster for the Hubbard VFW Post 3767, wrote checks to himself out of the post checking account instead paying bills for the organization.
Police said about $12,000 was taken from the organization.
The thefts occurred from June 1 through the end of August.
None of the money was recovered, and police said they are not sure what was done with the money. Police said no one else is suspected in the thefts.
