THURSDAY
XWestern Reserve Baptist Church will sponsor a community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. at the church, 8590 Hitchcock Road, Boardman. The menu will consist of chili, salad and dessert. All are welcome.
FRIDAY
XHoly Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will be selling potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday at (330) 755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide containers.
XHoly Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will be serving its original fish dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; and bread and butter, coffee or tea. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.
XHoly Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pirogi and hot pirogi lunches. Orders will be taken from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday at (330) 746-9528. Orders should be placed early and are to be picked up by 2 p.m. Friday. Cost is $4 per dozen.
XPotato pirogi will be sold at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown. To order call (330) 799-0084 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $4 per dozen. Patrons may provide their own containers and are asked to use the side entrance.
XSt. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m. Friday.
XSts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 185 Laird Ave. N.E., Warren, will be selling potato, sweet cabbage, sauerkraut and lekvar pirogi and haluski. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 393-0781 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Thursday. Pickup will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday.
XPotato, prune and kraut pirogi will be sold at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at (330) 755-1316. Orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers.
XSt. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, will be baking Italian-style red and white pizza. Phone orders will be accepted at (330) 788-0025 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. only. Pickup will be until 1 p.m.
XSt. Paul the Apostle Church, Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi. Orders can be called to (330) 542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday.
XSt. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. Advance orders are taken at (330) 747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, based upon availability. The cost is $4 a dozen for potato and kraut and for cottage cheese. Lunches are served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers and use the side entrance.
SATURDAY
XCalvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road, Boardman (corner of Shields and Tippecanoe), will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Take out is available.
XEast Palestine Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. at the fire station on East Clark Street. The menu consists of spaghetti and meatballs (homemade sauce and meatballs), roll, salad, dessert and beverage. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Ages 5 and under are free. Carry outs are available, but patrons should take their own containers.
XVeterans of Foreign Wars York Drexler Post 5532, 575 S. County Road, Washingtonville, will hold a chicken barbecue from noon to 6 p.m. to benefit the victims of hurricane Katrina. The cost will be $5 per person.
SUNDAY
XMary, Mother of Hope Parish Center, corner of North and Beaver streets, downtown New Castle, Pa., will hold a Sunday morning breakfast buffet from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The menu will consist of pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice, fruit and beverage. XSt. Lucy Roman Catholic Church, 394 Tenney Ave., Campbell, will hold a spaghetti dinner from noon to 4 p.m. at the parish banquet center sponsored by the altar and rosary society. Take-outs are available in the church basement until 3:30 p.m. Please take containers. The cost for adults is $7 and $4 for children under 12.
XSt. Paul the Apostle Church, Route 170, New Middletown, will hold an open pit roast beef and noodle dinner with homemade desserts from noon to 4 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 6 to 12. The dinner is sponsored by the altar guild, and the church is handicap accessible.
XShrine of Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista, Youngstown, will have a pasta dinner from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 7 to 12 years old. There will be a 50/50 raffle, $1 for each ticket or $5 for six. You do not need to be present to win.
TUESDAY
XA chili dinner will be held for the Mineral Ridge community from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at St. Mary Church Hall, Main Street, Mineral Ridge, to benefit the Josef Caruso Fund. A freewill offering will be accepted, and takeout meals will be available for the homebound.
UPCOMING
XSt. Joseph Society of St. Joseph the Provider Parish, will have it's 5th annual steak fry from 4 to 9 p.m. Oct. 1 at the church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. The menu will consist of grilled steaks, potato, vegetable salad, and dessert, with refreshments available. The cost is $12 per person. Take outs are available. There will be a 50/50 raffle. XSouthington United Methodist Church, Route 305 and 534, Southington, will hold its bicentennial "Harvest Home Dinner" from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 1. The menu includes turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, dressing, green beans, squash, homemade applesauce and homemade desserts. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 4 through 10. ONGOING
XSt. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard, is taking orders for homemade fresh frozen apple strudel through Oct. 12 at the rectory, (330) 545-4351. Customers will receive baking instructions. The cost is $8. Pickup will be Oct. 15.
