Agencies set to give help at Christmas

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Salvation Army, Mahoning County Area Services, and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves' Toys for Tots will soon take applications for 2005 Christmas assistance.
They will take applications from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11-13, noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 14 and 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 15 at the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave.
No children will be permitted at these application sessions.
What you need
Applicants must present valid photo identification, Social Security cards for all household members and proof of guardianship for all children in the household such as medical card, insurance card, birth certificate or court papers.
Applicants will be asked to sign a form verifying that their total household income does not exceed 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
Christmas assistance is available to families, couples, singles and seniors.
Children age 12 and younger will receive toys through the Angel Tree Program.
Families with children older than 12, couples, singles and seniors will receive food vouchers to assist with the purchase of holiday food.
Distribution dates are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 19, noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 20 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 21. A distribution date will be set for each family during the application process.
