HIGHWAY PATROL | Promotions, transfers

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced these promotions and transfers:
Lt. Brian Girts, commander of the Canfield post, has been promoted to staff lieutenant and transferred to the Warren District headquarters to serve as assistant district commander. Girts joined the patrol in July 1978 as a cadet dispatcher at the Warren and Canfield posts. He received his commission in September 1979 and was assigned to the Fremont post, transferring to Canfield in October 1981. He received a superintendent's citation of merit in 1982 and Ace awards for excellence in auto larceny enforcement in 1982 and 1985.
Christopher M. Heverly, assistant post commander of the Ravenna post, has been promoted to lieutenant from sergeant and will take command of the Canfield post. Heverly joined the patrol in 1990 and was assigned to the Mansfield post, transferring to Ravenna in 1992. Heverly received Warren District trooper of the year honors in 1994; Ravenna post trooper of the year honors in 1993 and 1994; and an Ace award for excellence in auto larceny enforcement in 1993.
Roger A. Hannay of Warren District headquarters has been promoted to captain from staff lieutenant and transferred to the patrol's Berea District headquarters. Hannay joined the patrol in June 1978 as a cadet dispatcher at the Lisbon post. He received his commission in 1980 and was assigned to the Akron post, where he received Ace awards for excellence in auto larceny enforcement in 1982 and 1984. Hannay has been at the Warren District headquarters since March 1997.
Nakia J. Hendrix of the patrol's Warren post has been promoted to sergeant from trooper and will transfer to the patrol's Ashtabula post to serve as assistant post commander. Hendrix joined the patrol in February 1999 and was assigned to the Wooster post.
