Big plays doom Ursuline, 26-12, in season finale at Akron SVSM



Youngstown Christian and Southington ended their seasons with lopsided defeats.
AKRON -- The Ursuline High football team's inability to prevent big plays brought their season to an end Saturday with a 26-12 loss to Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary.
Diamond Hart's 84-yard kickoff return put the SVSM (6-4) ahead for keeps in the first quarter. That score came after Ursuline quarterback Matt Yarab scored on an 8-yard run for a 6-0 lead.
Ursuline finishes the season 3-7.
After SVSM kicker Joe Ochinhurt booted a 22-yard field goal for a 10-6 lead, SVSM quarterback Darius Green hit L.B. Glasper for a 60-yard scoring strike.
Bryant Youngblood scored Ursuline's other touchdown on a 5-yard run.
SVSM is No. 6 in the most recent computer playoff ratings for Division IV Region 13. Mooney is No. 1 in that region.
Carnell Evans scored SVSM's other touchdown on a 15-yard run. He finished with 125 yards on 20 carries.
Yarab's 53 yards on 11 carries led Ursuline's ground game.
Ledgemont 63,Youngstown Christian 20
MINERAL RIDGE -- Randy Boslett rushed 26 times for 238 yards and touchdowns covering 4 and 3 yards for Ledgemont (9-1).
Andy Humar added 22 carries for 175 yards and scoring runs of 1, 3, 6 and 1 yards.
Aaron Tate and Toba Olarewaju returned kickoffs for touchdowns of 80 and 95 yards for Youngstown Christian (6-4).
Lutheran East 50, Southington 20
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS -- Koree Dyle ran nine times for 188 yards and three touchdowns to lead Lutheran East in a East Suburban Conference game.
Marques Wiggins added two touchdown passes to Mario Cannon for the Falcons (3-7, 2-5), who outscored Southington 24-0 in the second half.
Jake Duncan scored twice and Tommy Harkleroad added 45 yards rushing for the Wildcats (0-10, 0-7). Roman Brady had a 27-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
Canton McKinley 38,Massillon Washington 8
CANTON -- Morgan Williams rushed for 234 yards and four touchdowns, leading No. 4 Canton McKinley before a sellout crowd of more than 22,000 at Fawcett Stadium.
Williams, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound junior, had touchdown runs of 1, 6, 14 and 2 yards, as the Bulldogs won the 113th meeting between the Stark County rivals. The Bulldogs have won the last three games in the series, but the Tigers hold a 59-49-5 overall advantage.
McKinley completed its sixth 10-0 regular season and first since 1995. It was just the fifth time -- and first since 1964 -- that both teams entered the game unbeaten.
Williams had 193 yards rushing at the half, helping the Bulldogs build a 14-0 lead.
Massillon averted the shutout when defensive back Troy Ellis returned an interception 50 yards for a third-quarter score. McKinley's defense limited Massillon to 124 yards, including 56 rushing, and did not surrender a touchdown.
Mark Jackson caught a 21-yard TD pass from Dan Grimsley for the Bulldogs' other score.
