Wild defeats Jackets to snap three-game skid

Goalie Manny Fernandez needed to make just 15 saves against Columbus.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Todd White scored twice as the Minnesota Wild snapped a three-game winless streak, beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 on Saturday night.
Filip Kuba had two assists as the Wild returned to their defensive ways for the win, holding Columbus to just 16 shots on goal and killing eight of the Blue Jackets' nine power plays.
Minnesota's Manny Fernandez had 15 saves, improving his season record to 4-1-1.
Near the midway point of the first period, David Vyborny opened the scoring with a controversial power-play goal. Nikolai Zherdev floated a knee-high pass across the front of the goalmouth, where the puck hit Vyborny's leg and deflected past Fernandez. After a lengthy video review, officials ruled Vyborny hadn't intentionally redirected the puck.
Three straight goals
Minnesota tied the game less than two minutes later on its first power play. White poked in his own rebound after a pass from Alexandre Daigle.
His second goal came with just 29.6 seconds remaining in the game.
The Wild stepped up their second-period defense, holding the Blue Jackets to just three shots on goal, and blocking six Columbus shots in the period. Minnesota got the only goal when Brent Burns lifted a backhander past Columbus goalie Martin Prusek on the stick side.
Prusek finished with 21 saves for his first loss.
