Hall of fame induction
ALLIANCE -- Joseph A. Peters of Alliance, a former Junior ROTC instructor at Warren Western Reserve High School, will be inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame at 11 a.m. Thursday at Franklin County Veterans Memorial in Columbus.
Hall of Fame members are selected for their community service as well as for their military accomplishments.
Peters, 76, said it is a great honor to be selected. He thanked God and his former commander, Howard Blasiman, and his daughter, Mary Jo Myers of Alliance, both of whom nominated him.
He served in the Air Force from 1947 to 1969, including a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1965 and 1966, and retired as a chief master sergeant. He was a Junior ROTC instructor at Warren Western Reserve from 1974 until the school was closed in 1990.
Peters, a licensed lay minister who pastors the Church of Christ at Myers in Massillon, is a longtime chaplain for Alliance Community Hospital and volunteer chaplain for Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice. He is also chaplain for Charles C. Weybrecht American Legion Post 166 and was named American Legion State Chaplain of the Year in 2004.
Peters has served as a trustee for the Alliance Area United Way, past president of the Alliance Area Retired Teachers Association and a member of the board of the Alliance of Churches. He is a member of the Lexington Ruritan Club, where he was Citizen of the Year for 2003, and has donated 20 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross and military blood banks.
Peters and his wife, the former Carol Addison, have six children, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Ursuline grad now 2nd Lt.
Air Force 2nd Lt. Reginald Allen Jr., son of Mary and Reginald Allen Sr., was promoted to his current rank after graduating from a six-week officers commissioning program at the Academy of Military Science, McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Tenn. Allen, a quality assurance officer, is a 1988 graduate of Ursuline High School.

Liberty staff sergeantleaving for Korea in Jan.
Air Force Staff Sgt. Adam A. Yankush recently returned to Pope Air Force Base, N.C., after his second tour in the Middle East, where he was stationed at Braham Air Base. Last year, he was stationed in Saudi Arabia. Assigned to the intelligence division, he will be deployed to Korea in January. Yankush, son of Karen Conklin and Alex Yankush, both of Liberty, will be home on leave over the Thanksgiving holiday.

First Term Airman Center
Air Force Airman 1st Class Damien O. Brink graduated from the First Term Airman Center at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. Brink, an intelligence operations apprentice, is assigned to the 366th Operations Support Squadron. He is the son of Dennis and Ronda L. Brink of Transfer, Pa., and a 2004 graduate of Reynolds High School, Transfer.
Vehicle Repairman Course
Marine Corps Pfc. Bruce D. Bennett, son of Linda M. and Bruce W. Bennett of Niles, graduated from the Light Armored Vehicle Repairman Course, Army Ordnance Center and School, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. Bennett is a 2001 graduate of Warren Lifeskills High School.
Parachute Rigger Course
Marine Corps Pvt. Nathan G. Horning, son of Kim Horning of Sharon, Pa., graduated from the Parachute Rigger Course at Naval Air Training Command, Pensacola, Fla. Horning is a 2003 graduate of Sharon High School of Sharon.

Airman arrives for duty
Air Force Reserve Senior Airman Anthony W. Behanna has arrived for duty at Youngstown-Warren Air Reserve Station, Vienna. Behanna, a morale, welfare, recreation and services helper, is assigned to the 910th Airlift Wing. He is a 1988 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School.
