Small-screen horrorfests abound

SCRIPPS HOWARD
"Monster Fest" airing Monday on American Movie Classics is always a sure bet for Halloween.
The weeklong, 24-hour marathon concludes with an assortment of goodies. By 8:15 a.m., you can see the bloody taunts of "Carrie." Creepy Michael Myers has back-to-back revenge starting at 10:30 a.m. with "Halloween 4" and "Halloween 5."
And by 8 p.m., it's "Scream 2," with Neve Campbell and Jamie Kennedy. Not in the mood for those? Well, there are other choices.
Classic horror films such as "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (6:05 p.m. Bravo), "Poltergeist" (8 p.m. Turner Classic Movies), "Jeepers Creepers" (8 p.m. Sci-Fi Channel) and "The Exorcist" (1 p.m. Cinemax) also will haunt the tube.
"Medium" will be featured in a three-episode marathon (beginning at 8 p.m. on NBC). The evening kicks off with Allison (Patricia Arquette) convinced a Good Samaritan is actually a serial killer.
"Scariest Places on Earth" (8 p.m. ABC Family), a series about families braving a night in chilling dwellings, spotlights a Buffalo, N.Y., family holding up in a place called Dracula's Castle in Eastern Europe.
"The Scorned" (9 p.m. on E!) is a horror movie starring ex-reality show participants such as Trishelle of "The Real World" and Reichen from "The Amazing Race." The making of the movie was the subject of a recent reality series called "Kill Reality."
If you can wait a week, "The Simpsons" will deliver its annual post-Halloween episode "Treehouse of Horrors" almost a week after you've collected your candy (8 p.m. Sunday, Fox). It's always a treat.
