PITTSBURGH -- Dr. Abraham J. Twerski, founder and medical director emeritus of Gateway Rehabilitation Center, is the main speaker at the center's 14th annual Recovery Breakfast 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sunday at Four Points Sheraton-Pittsburgh North, 910 Sheraton Drive, Mars, Pa.
Twerski, internationally known authority in the treatment of alcohol and other drug problems, is the author of some 40 self-help books. His newest book is "From Pulpit to Couch."

Teaching CPR

Counseling grant
YOUNGSTOWN -- D & amp;E Counseling Center, a child and adolescent mental health center, has received a $27,719 grant from the Raymond J. Wean Foundation. The grant will help support the center's Early Childhood Services Program, which provides mental health intervention and prevention education training to parents, teachers and/or assistants of children ages 3-5 who have behavioral and/or emotional problems.
Stroke screening
YOUNGSTOWN -- Life Line Screening is offering screenings for stroke, abdominal aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease and osteoporosis on Nov. 9 at St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive. Call (800) 449-2281 for costs and an appointment. Preregistration is necessary.
Resuscitation talk
BOARDMAN -- Brendan Minogue, PhD., a professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Youngstown State University, is the speaker for the District Three, Ohio Nurses Association's continuing education and membership meeting on Nov. 16. His topic is "Do Not Resuscitate: An Overview." Baby-sitting classes
WARREN -- Trumbull County Chapter of the American Red Cross will have baby-sitting training classes from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 22 and 23, at the chapter, 661 Mahoning Ave. The $40 class teaches basic child care, safe play, first aide and how to help a choking child.
