Instructors to presentsnowmobile safety class
JAMESTOWN, Pa. -- Certified instructors of the Pymatuning Trailblazers Snowmobile Club will offer a snowmobile safety course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pymatuning Trailblazer Club House, Burns Road. Lunch will be provided.
Pennsylvania law requires youngsters from ages 8 to 15 to earn a safety certificate before they may operate a snowmobile in the state, except for operating a snowmobile on land of his or her parents or guardians. High school musiciansto be part of SRU event
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- As many as 1,500 high school band musicians will participate in the first "The Rock Showcase of Champions" at Slippery Rock University on Saturday. The musicians will represent the top seven bands from southwestern Pennsylvania in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association Championships and the top seven bands in the northwestern Pennsylvania Lakeshore Marching Band Association Championships. The event begins at 1:30 p.m. in N. Kerr Thompson Stadium. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for students.
Candidates forum
BOARDMAN -- Boardman Council PTA is hosting a candidates' forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Boardman High School cafeteria. This will be an opportunity for voters to meet candidates for board of education and township trustee. Deb Liptak, legislation chairwoman, will moderate. A brief council meeting will be at 6:30 with Jenny Young presiding.
Halloween parade set
GREENFORD -- The Green Township Halloween Parade will be at 6 p.m. Monday at South Range Middle School on state Route 165. There will be costume judging and a jack-o-lantern contest.
Curbside leaf pickups
SALEM -- City workers will begin curbside pickup of leaves Monday. People should rake leaves to the curb lawn instead of bagging leaves or raking them into the gutter.
One crew will begin in the southeast section of the city and move to the southwest. A second will begin in the northeast section and move to the northwest.
Free skin cancer testing
LISBON -- The Columbiana County Health Department will offer a free skin cancer screening clinic Tuesday for people of all ages. A free pediatric vision clinic will be offered Nov. 11 for those 21 and younger. Assistance is available to help buy glasses. To make an appointment, call (330) 424-0272.
