Struthers Rotary celebrates its 50th anniversary at park

STRUTHERS -- Struthers Rotary Club celebrated its 50th anniversary during a meeting held Oct. 19 at the all purpose center in Mauthe Park.
The park was deemed the appropriate setting for the event since Rotary, in partnership with the city, was instrumental in the park renovation which was initiated in 1989. Rotary installed sidewalks and lights and spent nearly $50,000 on the project.
Resolutions commending the club on 50 years of service to the community were presented to Tom Baringer, club president, by Rotary District Governor Jack Polen, Struthers Mayor Dan Mamula and Rotarian Dan Yemma, who represented city council.
Singled out for recognition were members Dan Becker for 40 years perfect attendance, Jim Jickess for 45 years perfect attendance, and charter members Mike Clemente and Paul Paris. Also recognized were past presidents and Paul Harris Fellows.
Special guests were current and past Rotarians and their families, representatives of the City of Struthers, Rotary District 6650, Boy Scout Troop 101, and Struthers High School Interact Club.
